Approximately 43,000 surgical pathology specimens are accessioned per year. Cytopathology volumes at the University of Vermont Medical Center are 28,000 gyn accessions and 6,300 non-gyn accessions, of which 2100 are FNA samples with an active FNA service. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine provides academic effort for an initial 3 years allowing our new faculty to develop scholarly and educational activities aligned with their interests. The applicant should have evidence of academic productivity and will be expected to pursue scholarly activities and/or clinical, translational or collaborative research. Strong interest and evidence of experience in medical student, resident and fellow education is essential. Strong diagnostic skills with fellowship training and experience in Cytopathology, including FNA experience, is preferred and an interest in development of a subspecialty area of Surgical Pathology is desirable. The applicant must be Board eligible/certified in Anatomic Pathology and Cytopathology.
